Chris

Dementia Trainer

With over 19 years of experience in the health and social care sector, my journey has taken me through community care, residential care homes, and even managing a day centre—each role deepening my understanding of how meaningful engagement transforms the lives of people living with dementia.

A Career Built on Compassionate Dementia Support

In 2011, I became a Lead Practitioner in a Dementia Care setting. I provided expert guidance, resources, and a signposting service to individuals with dementia, their families, and carers. By 2014, I became the Dementia Services Manager, overseeing three residential care homes and focusing on enhancing care through dignity, choice, and person-centred support.

I’ve always believed that excellence in dementia care comes from seeing each person as an individual, and that’s what inspired me to launch Forget Me Not Dementia Training in 2011. This initiative allows me to share insights and proven practices with professionals across the care sector, ensuring that those living with dementia receive care that is respectful, compassionate, and engaging.

Joining Caring Homes: A Personal Mission

In 2023, I proudly joined Caring Homes as the Regional Dementia Trainer, bringing my experience and passion to support all 21 of our care homes. From day one, I was struck by the warmth, dedication, and person-centred values that are the foundation of each home in our group.

At Caring Homes, we are more than care providers, we’re a family of professionals creating spaces where residents live with purpose, dignity, and joy. My role allows me to work closely with care teams, mentoring staff, supporting managers, and ensuring our homes are equipped to deliver the highest standards of dementia care.

Delivering Impactful Dementia Training Across the UK

Our dementia training at Caring Homes is hands-on, inclusive, and rooted in real-world experiences. Staff learn not just by listening—but by doing, engaging, and reflecting. This practical approach ensures better retention, more confident care, and ultimately, better quality of life for our residents.

Looking Ahead: Making Every Moment Matter

Every one of our homes has a unique story, and I’m proud to support them in achieving meaningful engagement, outstanding care outcomes, and lasting connections. As a Dementia Trainer, I carry the responsibility—and privilege—of helping shape the future of dementia care at Caring Homes.
