Asha

Deputy Manager

My nursing journey began in India, where I completed my initial nursing qualification. In 2007, I moved to the UK through an exciting opportunity with Caring Homes. Arriving on a student visa, I pursued my Level 3 qualification in Health and Social Care, which gave me essential insight into UK care standards and helped me build early leadership skills as I stepped into a senior care role.

Starting my career in a residential home supporting individuals with advanced dementia, I quickly discovered a deep passion for person-centred care. I found real fulfilment in improving the wellbeing of our residents and mentoring care staff. Supporting others to grow has been a driving force in my career ever since.

What truly shaped my experience was the incredible support from Caring Homes. From the beginning, the organisation invested in my training, professional development, and—importantly—my personal transition to life in the UK. I felt respected, welcomed, and part of something greater: a workplace that genuinely felt like a family.

It struck me that the same values of compassion, inclusion, and dignity that we extend to our residents were also extended to me as a team member. That personal experience of being seen, heard, and supported helps me connect more meaningfully with the people we care for, many of whom are also navigating major life transitions. Giving them a sense of belonging and trust is something I am deeply committed to every day.

In 2019, I completed my nurse training and became a Registered Nurse (RN) with the NMC. I was promoted to RGN at Blenheim Court Nursing Home shortly after, and later that year, I took on the role of Clinical Lead. In 2024, I was honoured to become Deputy Manager.

Today, I lead with empathy, professionalism, and a holistic understanding of what it means to care—not just medically, but emotionally and personally. I’m passionate about lifelong learning, and I continue to support team development, contribute to training and policy improvement, and drive innovation in our care practices.

I’m currently pursuing my NVQ Level 5 in Leadership for Health and Social Care, supported once again by Caring Homes. I truly believe the opportunities here are limitless for those who are motivated and passionate.

Working alongside inspiring leaders—especially my manager, Sam—has shaped the nurse and leader I am today. The mentorship has been invaluable, and I’m incredibly grateful for everything I’ve learned from her over the years.

Caring Homes has been by my side every step of the way—and I truly couldn’t imagine building my career anywhere else.
