Nursing Associate

My career in care began in 2019, shortly after relocating and settling just a few doors down from Latham Lodge Nursing Home. What initially seemed like a convenient local job quickly turned into a deeply fulfilling vocation. Although I had briefly worked in domiciliary care many years ago, it wasn’t until I joined the team at Latham Lodge that I truly discovered my passion for delivering high-quality, compassionate care.

Since joining the care sector, I’ve experienced tremendous growth—both personally and professionally. In June 2022, I completed the Care Home Assistant Practitioner (CHAP) training, which enabled me to take on enhanced clinical duties and play a more active role in supporting residents’ health and well-being. My desire to keep learning led me to begin training as a Nursing Associate at the University of Winchester in September 2024, with a clear goal: to continue on to the Registered Nurse Degree Apprenticeship and become a fully qualified Registered Nurse.

Throughout this journey, I’ve been fortunate to receive outstanding mentorship and ongoing professional development. These experiences have built my confidence and inspired me to support others in their care careers by sharing my knowledge and helping to nurture a learning-focused, supportive environment for all staff.

One of the most meaningful parts of my role is providing palliative and end-of-life care. I consider it a privilege to be present during such a sensitive and profound time. Offering comfort, dignity, and compassion during someone’s final moments is one of the most humbling responsibilities a care professional can have.

Every day, I remain committed to delivering person-centered care with empathy and respect. My goal is to continue developing into a nurse who truly makes a lasting difference in the lives of those we support.
