Kirsty
Our team of fantastic colleagues makes every Home a Caring Home and across our business we work alongside people from all walks of life, who all share the same passion to help every resident live life to the full.
Kirsty is the Home Manager at Bradbury House in Braintree, Essex. Kirsty’s story is one of hard work, ambition and determination. A rising star, we know she’ll have an outstanding future with us:
"I trained as a nurse and have only been working in care for about six years. I was working with people with learning disabilities and then my Nan got diagnosed with Dementia. I stopped what I was doing and became a carer. I’ve worked my way up since then, really. I was deputy manager at a smaller independent Home previously.
I’m only 33 so I didn’t think Caring Homes would consider me when I applied, but they put so much faith in me. They’re a massive company but they’re still small enough to care. The amount of support and training they’ve been able to offer me as I hadn’t done it on my own before and the size of the company is what really attracted me to it.
I’m the youngest Home Manager in the company, and I know there’s so much opportunity to build my career and go further. I’ve got such great support from my managers and my team and even though they’re a big company they’ve let me put my own stamp on my Home, which I love.
Although it’s been challenging with the pandemic, keeping staff motivated, and having to get creative on ways of working when we couldn’t go out. I’m so proud that we’ve been able to do things like building a bar in the Home to bring socialising and activities in. Most importantly though we’ve been able to keep our residents safe and Covid out of the Home.
This role has taught me so much in the past year, I have built so many amazing relationships with residents and staff, I choose to spend my time at Bradbury, even on my days off. The fact I can bring my little dog helps on that one. I’m excited for my future here, if you work hard and be yourself the opportunities are endless."
